My conscience would no longer allow me to do to children what I knew was killing their natural love of learning and my joy in teaching. So I walked away and never looked back. Now I am homeschooling and I control the curriculum and learning. I found the writings of Charlotte Mason, an educational reformer that discovered how children learned naturally and applied it to the teaching of them in her schools. It has turned everything I knew about teaching on its head. I have seen results from using her methods and approach that I never saw in any child in all the years I was in government schools. The results were so remarkable that I knew she had hit on the truths of education. It is fascinating and I encourage all of you to check it out. You can read her books for free online at, http://amblesideonline.org/CM/toc.html. The only thing left for teachers to do is talk louder. They are held accountable for results, but robbed of the autonomy needed to get results." - AMEN!
